When you don’t have a credit history at all it can be difficult to get a credit card or any other type of loan.Problem is that if you don’t have a credit history you will have no credit record and hence no credit score with the credit reference agencies like Equifax or Experian.

For many people, the issue of bad credit rating simply doesn’t arise as they have no credit rating at all!   That situation covers all ages and social groups.  You could a young person starting out in their first job needing a credit card to help with transport costs or work clothes.Some older people may never have bought anything “on-tick” before, but need a credit card now to make their pension go further, only to find that their earlier prudence may actually be damaging their chances of getting credit.  Establishing a good credit history takes time. There are no shortcuts that can take you to a high score score in a matter of months or even years.Don’t be tempted to apply for a store card as just to establish a credit history.  Many of them don’t even report into the Credit Reference Agencies like Experian or Equifax, so having them won’t do you any good in the how to improve credit rating stakes, since they will do nothing towards establishing a credit history.

If you have a good relationship with your bank, you could try them but if you’ve recently moved to the area or changed banks several times, the only remaining option may be a “Non Status” credit card.Providers offering these deals will consider people with no credit history and can allow you to establish and build your credit rating over time.   In due course, you’ll then be able to apply for more competitive “regular” credit card deals.    Although acceptance can never be 100% guaranteed you do stand a much better chance of being approved for one of these adverse credit cards without any credit history at all.
