Do you want ways to improve credit score that work?  Listen closely.  As you are reading every line in this article, you are suddenly recognizing the importance of checking your credit report on a on a regular basis.

A good way to improve credit score depends on your ability to put all of your debt information together so you can compare what you have in your reports.

Be sure to go check all of your information including payment dates, account numbers, and high balances.  Now, here’s the trick: To compare some of this information, you are going to have to sort through some of your old records.

With this in mind, the items in your report that are favorable, you don’t need to worry about crosschecking them unless the accounts are closed but not listed as closed.  Focus all of your attention on the negative items and examine the fine print very closely for errors.

Let me show you exactly how things work to improve credit score.

Know this – it is important to understand how to deal with incorrect charges on credit cards and other bills as ways to improve credit scores.  Resolving these problems before they affect your credit report is the simplest and best way to maintain good credit.  Should you find an error on your current credit card bill (the actual bill – not your credit report), you should follow these steps:

Contact your credit card company directly – credit reporting agencies do not handle the disputes – and Send a letter to your creditor regarding the billing error.

I can’t stress this enough – but a phone call is not the way to handle this. In order for the situation to be covered by the Fair Credit Billing Act, you’ll need to put things in writing.

Also, you must send the letter within 60 days of the date of the bill and send the letter via certified mail, return receipt requested.  The creditor has thirty days to acknowledge receipt of your letter.

Withholding payment for disputed items on your credit card statement is an option to consider if the charge is fifty dollars or more and the store is in your state or within one hundred miles of your residence.  Before you do this, you must first attempt to resolve the billing dispute with the store the item is from and inform the credit card company in writing about the dispute.

Also, credit card companies have to resolve your issue within 90 days or two billing cycles, and during this time while your dispute is being handled they won’t be able to report your acount as being delinquent.  Checking your bills for errors is a great way to improve credit score. Doing this in writing is important in order to create a paper trail.

Remember to get started now. Don’t ignore this important issue.
